Tucked away in the mountains, at the base of Arangieskop, about 7km from Robertson on the Dassieshoek Road, lies Die Laaitjie. It consists of 330 ha of fynbos and hiking trails, waterfalls, rock pools as well as four dams – a bird watchers paradise. The area is also popular with local trail runners and mountain bikers who love the pristine nature of the mountains. The curious name is from when one family owned most of the area, and as the smallest of the farms and last in a row, they named it from the ‘tag’ game where the prize is hidden in a tiny drawer.
